Unconfirmed, but so far I have a pattern of always losing exactly 1 Troop Population per colonized planet in the system being Invaded, no matter what.

Adding more Troops does not seem to affect how many of your own Troops will die in the Invasion, however. In my case, using a total of 3, 6, or 9 Elite Troop Modules in the fleet when invading a single-planet 7 Population system resulted in 4, 1, or 0 of the native Population being killed.

In every case I lost 1 Troop, 0 aircraft, and destroyed 0 Buildings. Keeping more of the native Population alive is extremely advantageous, aside from the obvious benefit of having more Population in your new system.

Technically a type of system-conquering, I noticed that the only time I seemed to be able to trade for enemy systems in the Diplomacy menu was when offering a Cease-Fire while at war and winning: Oddly, it seems possible for you to request an enemy give you all of its remaining systems as part of a ceasefire, thus causing that faction to be eliminated upon the following turn.

I think that the troop module ships are "repopulating" the planets, hence why you see a successfully invaded system that would have 4 dead population, go to 3 by adding a troop ship, 2 by adding another, so on.

This might also be tied to population bombing claiming X population destroyed, but upon invasion, you see none of that population missing your invasion ships replaced it.

This could use some detailed testing, of course, but seems consistent with what I have been seeing. I am not sure if troop module depletion is tied to this repopulation effect, but I suspect it is.

If you have both types of fleets in orbit you have to go through the MP fleets first before you can target the SP ones. If you attack enemy fleets the game will always "fill" up the max CP of the enemy fleet so you can kill SP ships even tho you didnt clear all remaining MP guards first.

This is important when you try to "swarm" an enemy. Usually what the AI does is mass moving fleets onto a system it might bring as many as 20 fleets and you only have 2 fleets available to free it.

It means you can attack and destroy or make em retreat 2 enemy fleets per turn until the invasion stops. Now you might think you ll be smart and do the same to him.

What happens if you make hybrid ships with some attack modules and siege modules? Like say you have three fleets Would it start with the pure-MP fleet first, or can the enemy go after the hybrid fleet, since it has some MP?

I could be wrong about this, though. Well I experiemented around with Hybrid designs and can only advice against it.

If you out-tech your opponent considerably it cuts down on fleet numbers and manouvering around for sure but any other case you end up with a ship which has half if not more of its tonnage not usable in combat invasion modules cost a crapton of tonnage and regarding invasions a fleet that is only half effective at taking over systems.

I was better off designing SP or MP only ships. I am sure it will be easier to access it than the "Discussions" with the other threads.
